it took all summer, but i’ve finally downloaded mahler’s entire 9th symphony using nothing but pepsi points. i’m sure old gustav would be thrilled to know that this symphony (which he wrote in 1909 after learning that his wife was cheating on him) is currently worth 20 bottles of carbonated sugar water.
(thanks, annie!)

this song is entitled “control freaks in the control room,” which is kind of ironic because i didn’t really have any control over anything that was happening. i think i need to put a little more thought into my song construction/progression.
i do sort of like the end, though.

i’ve decided, since i obviously don’t feel compelled to write about making my movie, to turn this blog into a collection of drawings and songs that i regret making. here is the first batch: 3 months ago
after investigating who reblogged this drawing of mine, i was quite surprised to find it so frequently sandwiched between pictures of naked women.
this was a difficult sentence to construct.

“In Fallujah, in the days ahead of the November 2004 all-out assault, Marines ringing the city were reported to be turning back into the city men and boys “of combat age” who were trying to flee the impending scene of battle — an act which in itself is a violation of the Geneva Conventions, which require combatants to permit anyone, combatants as well as civilians, to surrender, and to leave the scene of battle.”
i just spent the past 2 hours reading Kucinich’s articles of impeachment and it made me pretty sick.
3 months agoi tend to listen to my own music a lot while working.
tonight, i rediscovered this track. it’s a pretty simple little song, but i absolutely love it because of the circumstances under which it was made.
i think it was the spring of 2004 and my roommates and i had neglected to pay our electric bill, leaving us without electricity for 3 or 4 days. with our landlord’s permission, we ran an extension cord out of a vacant apartment into our kitchen to power our refrigerator and one small lamp. we spent our days trying to accomplish as much as possible before the sun went down. we spent our nights going out to the movies or sitting and talking in the kitchen, as it contained our only source of light. apparently, a lack of electricity can really turn people into moths.
anyways, one night, after my roommates were asleep, i snuck into the kitchen with my digital recorder and made this song in about 10 minutes. if you listen closely, you can probably hear the refrigerator buzzing away.
